It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Building a Database with SQL
Access, SQL Server, Oracle, and other database design tools build databases for you. When you design tables and relationships in Access, Access modifies the database accordingly.
One problem with these design tools is that they are all different. You need to use different methods to define tables and relationships.
Another potentially more important problem is that to use these tools you need to own them. If you want to build a small database using MSDE, you may not want to spend a few hundred dollars buying Access.
