In this chapter, we discuss image analysis techniques which extract clinically relevant information from medical image data. Image analysis enables the generation of high-quality visualizations focused on selected anatomical structures and also supports quantitative analysis of pathologies and spatial relations, e.g., volumes of pathological structures or distances between anatomical structures. Image analysis is crucial for many diagnosis and therapy planning tasks. As an example, the identification and delineation of a tumor is often a prerequisite to determine its extent and volume and finally to select an optimal therapy.
