For diagnosis as well as for many therapy planning tasks it is crucial to understand the branching pattern and morphology of tree-like anatomical structures, such as nerves, vascular, and bronchial trees. A slight difference in vascular topology may lead to a strong difference in the treatment strategy. For therapy planning, it is of paramount importance to recognize shape features and morphology of vascular structures as well as spatial relations between vascular and other relevant structures.
