Performance, capacity, availability, and recoverability are all factors that must be taken into account when determining the hardware and the configuration of the physical storage. The physical storage design requires that you follow these steps:
- Select a storage hardware that satisfies the logical storage design. This includes the storage array, storage host bus adapters, and any switching, fiber channel, or Ethernet that may be required to support storage connectivity.
- Verify the compatibility of each storage hardware component by using the VMware HCL.
- Design the storage configuration to satisfy the design factors related to availability, recoverability, performance, and capacity.
