The ESXi host is joined to the Active Directory domain and becomes a member server within the domain. Once the ESXi host is joined to the domain, domain users and groups can be used to create permissions for managing the ESXi hosts. The following screenshot of the Select Users and Groups dialog shows access to an Active Directory domain to configure permissions after the host has been joined:
