Most people are introduced to web analytics via reports coming out of a web log parser, Google Analytics, or maybe one of the high-end tools. We look at the massive number of reports and try to make sense of them. Web analytics, though, is rather complex, and it is always optimal to step back from the tools and reports and first understand the basics.
