It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Package execution reports
Once the SSISDB has been created, package execution reports can be accessed from SSMS by right clicking on the Integration Services Catalog node:
A typical SSIS package report can be seen in the following screenshot and allows detailed drill-through into the performance and error message levels:
One really neat feature is that you can now see at a glance if an ETL job is taking longer than expected with an easy-to-read graph of the last 10 package execution times:
