ATSC Digital Television

 

 

 

 

ATSC stands for the Advanced Television Systems Committee, which developed the standards for digital television broadcasting (DTV) used in the United States (as well as in Canada, Mexico, Korea, Honduras and El Salvador, at this writing).

DTV transmissions are very different from analog TV, both in the type of video and audio signals and in the way they are modulated onto the RF carrier. ATSC DTV signals are not compatible with NTSC and need a different type of receiver—either an integrated television or a set-top box.
