In Chapter 16, the ATSC Digital Television is described in its current form at this writing. That description included the original ATSC DTV system (now retrospectively called “ATSC 1.0”), as well as some of its backwardly compatible upgrades known as ATSC 2.0. This chapter will summarize what is envisioned for the next generation of ATSC DTV, called ATSC 3.0.
