Integral Altitudes: The Evolution of Complexity
The four fundamental quadrant perspectives we just explored are a kind of horizontal way of seeing the full expanse of what there is; a way to “see things from a different perspective”; a way to help us move beyond the tendency of our minds to reduce the complexity we experience down into a simple pattern, which we then apply everywhere—our quadrant orientation or bias. When we push ourselves to look from all four perspectives instead—to act in an Integral way—we expand both our minds and our hearts into new territory. We enable ourselves to see things that we were previously blind to, that we previously shut out. We become both more insightful and more compassionate.
