As it pertains to many aspects of their lives, research shows that Americans are increasingly cautious about the growing role of AI. More specifically, the public is split on the impact of AI in health and medicine. While some believe that AI will lead to better outcomes for patients, others express concerns about potential negative impacts. However, one thing is certain: AI is already making significant strides in improving diagnostics, treatment plans, and patient care. One prevalent concern that often arises is the potential for AI to negatively impact the personal relationships between patients and their health care providers. The fear of losing the human touch is a valid concern. Patients value the empathy, understanding, and personalized care that human providers offer, and there are worries that these essential aspects may be compromised as AI becomes more prevalent in health care settings.1

Bill Gates predicts that 2024 will be a monumental year for AI, with it becoming especially significant for global health, access to education, mental health, and more. The Gates Foundation's initiative to fund the development and implementation of AI-powered ultrasounds helps allow for timely interventions and improved outcomes for both mother and baby.
