Foreword
This book, like the magazine from which it is derived, has a story behind it, but I want to start with the ending, because that’s the part that matters.
The ending is this: Design is not about hardware or software. Those are what get all the press, but they are only the tools, and you can buy them with money. Design is about you—what you know, what you see, and what you have to say.
No matter how sophisticated your machine, when you turn it on what you face is the same thing that creative people have always and forever faced: the blank page.
Every painter, every musician, every writer, every designer knows the feeling. Kinda scary. Kinda lost. Kinda helpless. In front of you is possibility, hope, and fear.
What will it be?
