CHAPTER 7: Controlling projects

These checklists will help you to keep your project progressing and support you in reaching your end goals. This represents the core day-to-day work of a project manager.

Tracking progress and writing a progress report

To be able to keep a project on track, the project manager has to monitor progress. There are three questions a project manager must be able to answer to be sure the project is progressing as expected:

  • For schedule: Is the project progressing at least as fast as planned?
  • For cost: Is the project’s budget being spent no faster than planned? (See page 168.)
