Segmentation is the process of dividing an image into multiple segments. This process is to simplify the image for analysis and make feature extraction easier.
One important feature of plate segmentation is the high number of vertical edges in a license plate, assuming that the image was taken frontally and the plate is not rotated and without perspective distortion.
