This chapter will help you understand OpenSIPS. The most important thing is to clarify what OpenSIPS is in relation to the SIP ecosystem: what OpenSIPS is good for, what OpenSIPS can do, what it cannot do, and where OpenSIPS can be the answer for you. This overview is to be followed by a description of the OpenSIPS design. It is essential to fully understand OpenSIPS—from the outside and inside perspectives—before using it.
