I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The history behind .NET Core is an interesting one and one that I won't go into exhaustive detail about here (had to quickly get that in, before you close this book and pick up something by Stephen King!). I would, however, like to talk briefly about (at least one of the reasons) why Microsoft chose to create .NET Core.
The .NET Framework has been around since 2002, and you can still run an application now that was written then. At the time of writing, this means that the .NET Framework needs to support nearly 20 years of assumptions and code, based on the technical landscape at that time.
