32Are You HOT?
I have been chasing skinny my entire life.
Except for that ONE time in eleventh grade when I was so stressed out from college applications, SATs, and relationship drama that I forgot to eat and weighed around 110 pounds.
On my 5-foot, 7-inch frame, those pounds made me pretty skinny. It was glorious. I still have one picture taken of me during that time. I should have it framed and mounted on my refrigerator. But other than that, I'm always in a state of “having to lose a few pounds.”
If you tune into social media, and who doesn't, it seems like the whole world is skinny, perfect, beautiful. But if you look at the epidemic of weight loss drugs, weight loss diets, weight loss schemes, it seems like everyone is trying to look better.
When I was a kid growing up, there was no such thing as Botox or filler or butt surgeries. If you wanted to be skinny, fit, or look good in your bathing suit, you laid in the sun to get a tan (which immediately knocks off 10 pounds) or you stopped shoving donuts and pizza in your mouth. It was that simple.
But today, we are all chasing youth, beauty, perfection.
In a job search, there is something to it.
Do you know that people who are considered “good looking” or “attractive” get more interviews and job offers?
Yep, it is true. According to a 2021 study at the University of Buffalo, “Attractive people are more likely to get hired, receive better evaluations, and get paid more.” But mostly this applies to men.
