“Dad. Dad. Don't. Hey! Dad!” Austin said in a harsh whisper, knowing exactly what her dad was about to do. But it was too late. He couldn't help himself, and he was already walking that way.
“Where is he going?” Bobbi asked, standing next to Austin, watching Alex jaunt across the green.
“To talk to the landscaping team,” Austin said, sounding defeated.
“About what?” Bobbi asked. Austin shrugged. “Either plants or teamwork. Probably both.”
The two men in black pants and soft yellow T‐shirts stopped raking the sand when Alex approached.
“Hey, guys!” Alex said excitedly. “Can I talk to you for a second?” He quickly looked back at his group and saw Austin and Bobbi standing next to each other, arms crossed and talking to each other. They've become quick friends. He knew they were probably making fun of him, but he didn't care. The men stopped working, looked at each other confused, thinking they did something wrong, and waited for Alex to speak.
“I know you're very busy, won't take up a lot of your time. Just wanted to let you know this course looks incredible. I have an appreciation for master landscapers like you guys. I mean, look at this place,” Alex said, gesturing to the whole course.
“It's a masterpiece. Really. You guys used the lily grass perfectly, and the pentas are brilliantly placed, love their color. It all really makes a difference and enhances the golf experience. ...
