Throughout this book I recount many stories of success and failure, of companies large and small, of people who feel energized by their work and those who feel terribly afraid.
Most of those that involve actual companies are taken from business periodicals and are so identified in each chapter’s references (see pages 235ff.). In these cases, where names of companies and company leaders are given, they are the real names.
Stories not cited with a reference are the result of interviews I conducted with businesspeople in various industries. Quotations unattributed to a published source should be presumed to be from such interviews.
