The concept of decision support system (DSS) can be traced back to 1940s and 1950s with the emergence of operations research, behavioural and scientific theories of management and statistical process control, much before the general availability of computers. During these days, the basic objective was to collect business operational data and convert into a form that is useful to analyse and modify the behaviour of the business in an intelligent manner.
