Chapter 4

Types of Portfolios

In October 2004, Entertainment Design magazine featured an article called “Avoiding a Portfolio Imbroglio.” Mark Newman—the magazine’s managing editor—conducted interviews and wrote this very comprehensive article, paying careful attention to the expectations described by various design-technology experts about different types of portfolios. The comments included in his article help illustrate what reviewers in different areas of concentration look for and respond best to. This chapter will include Mr. Newman’s findings, plus feedback and samples from colleagues who contributed to this book.
