in a systematic manner, are the atmosphere, terrestrial biosphere (usually
includes freshwater systems), oceans, and sediments (include fossil fuels).
Each of these global reservoirs may be subdivided into smaller pools rang-
ing in size from individual communities or ecosystems to the total of all
