mulsied Asphalt: An emulsion of asphalt cement and water, containing a
small amount of an emulsifying agent.
Emulsier: (1) An additive that promotes the formation of a stable mixture,
or emulsion, of oil and water. (2) An emulsion-stabilizing mechanism, usu-
ally either surface-active agent, nes, viscosity, or charge. (3) A compound
added to a mixture of two immiscible liquids in order to make it an emul-
sion, and not just two layers of liquid lying on top of each other. An emulsier
will usually be a molecule where one end is highly soluble in water, and the
other is highly soluble in oil. Sodium dodecyl sulfate
