The Case

Like people, computer cases come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and they are also made of different materials. All cases, however, share one common trait—they all support ATX motherboards. ATX is nothing fancy; as we said before, it just refers to motherboard dimensions. The only thing you need to know is whether or not your motherboard will fit in your case. MicroATX motherboards fit in a mini-tower or bigger, whereas an ATX motherboard fits in a mid- or full-tower.

Cases come in the following four sizes: full-tower, mid-tower, mini-tower, and SFF (Small Form Factor).
