Introduction

‘Systems perspective’ refers to the thinking that the ‘relationship’ between the parts of a

system is more important than the parts by themselves.  us comes the relevance of the

statement that ‘the whole is more than just the sum of the individual parts’.  e systems per-

spective focuses on the diff erence between a disconnected set of parts versus a collection of

parts that work together to create a functional whole. A number of componenets interact

with each other to form a complete system and when the state of one component changes,

it has an eff ect on the others. In this chapter, we look at embedded design with this point
