8.9. Allowing Password Changes Through OWA
Problem
You need to allow users to change their passwords through Outlook Web Access.
Solution
Using a graphical user interface
To create the required virtual directory for password changes, do the following:
Open the IIS Manager snap-in from the Administrative Tools menu in the Start menu.
Expand the Web Sites object.
Right-click the Default Web Site object and choose New → Virtual Directory.
The welcome screen of the Virtual Directory Creation Wizard appears; click Next.
Enter
iisadmpwdin the Alias field and click Next.In the next wizard page, set the path for the new directory to %Systemroot%\System32\Inetsrv\Iisadmpwd and click Next.
Set the Virtual Directory Access Permissions to Read, Run Scripts, and Execute. Click Next and Finish.
You should now see the new Virtual Directory listed in the IIS Directory structure.
Once your directory is created, you can edit the registry to enable the Change Password button.
Log on to the OWA server.
Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSEx-changeWeb\OWA registry key.
Choose New→ DWORD Value from the Edit menu; name the new value
DisablePassword.Double-click DisablePassword and set the value to
0.Restart the IIS services with the iisreset command-line tool.
