My journey as a coach actually started by being coached on a local baseball field in the small town of Woodbury, Tennessee, when I was six years old. My coach Micki Vinson affirmed and validated my worth and potential by saying to me, “Son, one of these days you’re going to be a great coach.” Her belief in me was what I needed at a critical time in my life.
My mother had me when she was 16. She worked two jobs while attending nursing school and raising me on her own. She taught me: “We don’t whine.
