IN 2018, A SILICON VALLEY START-UP CALLED SOAPAI developed one of the first digital clarity filters to help young people decide what is fake news and what is not. Whether or not SoapAI succeeds commercially, I expect that it is a signal of the new wave of clarity filters to come over the next decade. Later in this chapter, I will talk more about SoapAI as an early probe for what’s next.
These kinds of systems will help people make sense out of the emerging future. I expect clarity filters to be a very competitive space, fueled by technology tools that have been around a long time (like AI and machine learning) but are finally becoming practical and scalable.
