
Slicing Software
To 3D print the file, you must run it through a slicer. This is software that
divides the file into the layers that get printed. You also choose physical
settings such as layer height, speed of printing, and infill density. The slicer
turns that information into g-code (machine language) for the printer to
read. Popular slicers include Cura, Makerbot Print, OctoPrint and Simplify
3D for FDM printers and Chitubox, PreForm, and Z-Suite for resin printers.
