If you as a data controller need to rely on consent as your lawful grounds for processing personal data (see Chapter 3 for more about lawful grounds for processing), you may choose to use opt-in wording together with a tick box to obtain that consent.
Opt-in wording is a message to data subjects briefly explaining how their personal data — should they choose to give it — will be processed and used. The wording must be presented with an empty tick box, so the data subject must affirmatively tick that box to agree to the necessary processing.
