India’s 15106.7 km of land borders pass through 92 districts in 17 States, while its 7516 km of coastline, which includes the coastlines of 1197 Indian islands and 6100 km of mainland coastline, touches 13 States and Union Territories (UTs). All other States in the nation, with the exception of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Haryana, and Telangana, have one or more international borders or a coastline and can be classified as frontline States from the perspective of border management.
