It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Iterators
We discussed iterators in Chapter 3, Understanding Concurrency. Iterators are objects that allow the traversal of lists and other containers. Iterators are often implemented as part of a container's interface, which is an important method for a programmer. These are often split into the following categories:
- Internal iterators
- External iterators
- Generators
- Implicit iterators
We will cover what these categories are in more detail in the following sections.
