Appendix A. Guidance for Data Cloud Implementation
The following guide to the phases of a first-time Data Cloud implementation project and the steps outlined in them is intended to provide you with high-level guidance. There isn’t necessarily one right way to approach a first-time Data Cloud implementation project, and the process isn’t necessarily a linear one. Use the guide as a starting point for your own Data Cloud implementation plan.
General Guidelines
Here are some general guidelines to be aware of throughout all phases of the project:
- Make sure you keep in mind and frequently review Data Cloud limits and guidelines and Data Cloud standard editions and feature licenses. Review, as needed, best practices that are described in various chapters throughout this book.
- Understand factors that affect Data Cloud billable usage types and weigh the need for near real-time patterns against the expected costs to ensure you’re managing your budget appropriately. It’s advisable to also periodically review the billing multipliers for Data Cloud. Make sure any refresh schedules you select are really needed and that you’re not refreshing the CIs or segments more frequently than the underlying data is updated. Profile unification consumes considerable service credits, so avoid ingesting inactive profiles.
