Monitoring always means we are checking what the current status of a service is. For us to know whether we need to scale up or down depends on the state of a service. If a service is under increased load or traffic, the available resources are increasingly used. We want to know at which point we need to get more resources, or if we can free some up because we have too many. There are several things we could look into to determine whether or not we need to upscale or downscale.
