Soon after I became COO of Pepsi’s beverage division, I went on a learning tour of our plants. I visited the Pepsi bottling plant in Baltimore. It was in a tough part of town and had a reputation for being one of our lowest-performing facilities. I knew this would be one of the best places to learn about our big operational challenges.
