White noise, (the sound heard when a radio or television is tuned between channels) consists of all audible frequencies at equal level. Pink noise is similar but has been put through a filter that rolls of 3 dB per octave. Here the higher the frequency, the greater the attenuation. This is done because pink noise is used with -octave analyzers whose bandwidths become wider as the frequency increases.
