What do video studios and multitrack recording studios have in common? Offhand, TV and multitrack seem like quite divergent activities. They both need ample space. In multitrack recording the acoustical separation between sources obtainable by screens and other devices is limited and it is soon discovered that a certain minimum of physical separation is necessary, which adds up to requiring a certain amount of floor space for each performer. Television’s need for elbow room is more obvious, what with several cameras rolling around, overhead space for lights and multiple sets.
