It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Organizing Your Talk
TIP 8: Determine whether you will deliver a story-driven or premise-driven narrative.
When constructing a talk, speakers develop either a story-driven narrative or a premise-driven narrative. Story-driven narratives typically focus on a single story from beginning to end. Most of the time the speaker is on stage, she actively relives her story. As a result, her logical argument will generally be implied until the very end when she reflects on her story and reveals the moral. This contrasts with a premise-driven narrative where the elements of the speaker’s argument are well exposed throughout the talk. Though TED has a reputation for great storytelling, the fact is that most speakers deliver premise-driven narratives. ...
