It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

과 KS X 1001의 두 가지 문자 집합을 지원한다. KS X 1003은 1바이트로 인코딩되
는 로마자 문자 집합으로, 사실 US-ASCII에서 역슬래시를 원화 기호로 치환하기만
한 것이다. KS X 1001은 2바이트로 인코딩되는 한글, 한자, 그 외 특수문자들로 이
루어진 한국어 문자 집합이다. 이 인코딩 패턴은 표 16-5에서 간단히 나타내었다.

KS X 1001이 담고 있는 한글은 총 2,350자로, 사실 이것은 한국어에서 사용되는 한
글을 모두 표현하기에는 턱없이 부족하다. 이 문제를 보완하기 위해 KS X 1001은
한글 채움 문자(fill code, euc-kr에서는 0xA4 0xD4)를 이용해 한글을 표현하는 방
식을 규정하고 있다. 즉 한글 문자 한 개를 ‘(채움) 초성 중성 종성’으로 표현하는
