WCCP를 지원하는 라우터들은 HTTP 패킷을 특정 서버의 IP 주소와 함께 캡슐화함

Router Encapsulation, GRE)임을 나타내는 IP 헤더 proto 필드도 포함하고 있다.
proto 필드의 존재는 수신 측 프락시에게 그 패킷이 캡슐화된 패킷을 갖고 있음을
말해준다. 패킷이 캡슐화되어 있기 때문에, 클라이언트 아이피 주소를 잃어버리지
않는다. 그림 20-12는 GRE 패킷 캡슐화를 묘사하고 있다.
