When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Performance tuning the system
The real goal of monitoring is so that you can understand what good performance metrics are and begin to tune your system to hit those. One of the biggest roles of a Cognos administrator is keeping the environment running, and running quickly. This can be a challenge for a number of reasons. Some of the most common causes of performance issues are there not being enough RAM, there not being enough CPUs, a misconfigured environment, too many users, too large a Cognos Content Store, and many more. So the challenge when you encounter performance issues is determining what is causing those issues. Natively in Cognos BI, this leads to a game of trial and error.
