It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Ansible best practices in CI->CD
Ansible can be leveraged for a number of tasks within a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery atmosphere. When adopting Ansible, it makes sense to start with a small footprint and expand it to be more and more responsible for the automation being executed.
In this section, let's take a few minutes to explore some best practices within CI->CD in conjunction with Ansible:
- Always store your Ansible playbooks in source control.
- Ship your ansible playbooks with your artifacts (version everything!).
- Maintain separate inventory files for each environment (DEV, QA, and so on).
- Try to use the same playbooks for deploying to DEV as you would in production.
