CHAPTER 24Fill your mind with transforming information
We all have a choice when it comes to what influences us. What we listen to on a regular basis influences our thinking; who we allow near our mind shapes how we act and respond. My first exposure to the world of personal growth was through books, seminars and audio tapes.
I turned off the radio in my car and started to listen to motivational and informational speakers. My thinking started to move from I don’t know if I can achieve that to I think I can achieve it to I know I can achieve it! Like everything it is a process, one that involves sometimes flushing out the negatives and replacing them with positive information, possibility thinking and passionate success stories.
I rarely listen to the car radio now, but I do listen to podcasts, audiobooks, workshop audio content, and interviews with people whom I respect and who inspire me. So listening is the next way to develop yourself.
The great thing about listening to content is that you can be doing a couple of things at once — driving the car and listening to a podcast, going for a walk and listening to an audiobook, cooking dinner and listening to an audio recording. Your subconscious absorbs the information and files it away for a later day. So turn your down time into a time to shape your mindset and increase your knowledge.
