What would your hospital or ward look like if everyone made it a little bit better every day by solving problems and learning from them? Would this be more effective than working on a project basis and taking big steps? Yes, it would! The pace of your improvement process would increase enormously and people would develop every day (see Figure 8.1 for the difference in improvement speed for projects done by experts versus daily improvement by everyone).
