Creating a PV for the GlusterFS volume

GlusterFS is distributed by nature and is quite different from the previous NFS-based storage. OpenShift cluster needs to be aware of the underlying Gluster storage infrastructure so that any schedulable OpenShift node can mount a GlusterFS volume. Configuring a GlusterFS persistent volume involves the following:

  • The glusterfs-fuse package being installed on every schedulable OpenShift node
  • An existing GlusterFS storage in your underlying infrastructure
  • A distinct list of servers (IP addresses) in the GlusterFS cluster to be defined as endpoints
  • A service to persist the endpoints (optional)
  • An existing Gluster volume to be referenced in the persistent volume object
