With the introduction of the Apple Smart Keyboard, it's more important than ever to support multiple orientations on your iPadOS app.
Unless your app specifically requires you to support a set orientation (again, like a game), then there's no excuse really—if you're ever in doubt, just ask yourself whether your app requires a user to input using the keyboard. If so, then support landscape, and if you're supporting landscape for this reason, you should already be supporting portrait.
Regardless making the change to lock orientation for your app is simple.
