LABEL

LABEL can be used to add application-specific metadata to the image in terms of key-value pairs. Each label is just a key value pair that allows us to add more context to the image we are building. Each key-value pair can be separated by a space or backslashes (spaces preferred).

Separating metadata by backslashes creates one intermediate container for each key-value pair. Since the performance of the container decreases due to many intermediate containers, it is generally not recommended to use backslashes.
