Deleting volumes

A Docker volume persists even after the container is deleted, using docker rm to delete a container will leave a lot of orphan values. Docker never garbage collects any unattended volumes so make sure you clean unused volumes. The following options are available to delete volumes:

• You can delete a volume by specifying -rm to the run command as shown in the following command. This command removes volume1 and volume2 when the container is stopped. docker rm is used to automatically clean up the container when the container exists. When we use the -rm flag Docker also removes the volumes mounted on the container when the container is destroyed:
