The idea of working within constraints is so important that it’s worth exploring more pragmatically. We all face limitations, and the more gracefully and creatively we respond to the challenges those limitations place on us, the better. If you don’t have the lens you want, you work with what you’ve got, right? But there is much to be said for intentionally choosing the constraints within which you practice your craft. If constraints lubricate the wheels of creative thought, why not be more proactive in choosing them?
