Yes, it is possible to “get the shot” in one frame. It happens, but in my experience, it’s so rare that it’s more of a rounding error than a meaningful statistic. More importantly, if you expect it to be the norm and then fail to get the results you want immediately and give up because “it’s just not working,” then you’ll have missed the more compelling photographs that almost always come at the end of the process, not the beginning.
And even when it does happen—when you experience something, put the camera to your eye, press the shutter, and are so satisfied with the results that you move on—I wonder what is being ...
